I have just come back from speaking at two events in Cheshire and Shropshire to celebrate Enterprise Week.  The event in Cheshire was buzzing, full of students, would-be entrepreneurs and people who had already taken the plunge and were in business.  As part of the session I took them through an exercise to create a vision for their business. Once they had either written it or drawn it, they shared it with another  person sitting at their table.  This can be the hardest thing to do – to say your vision out loud because then it makes it real.  I particularly noticed the level of energy increase in the room when people were talking about their visions. One man commented that he got some useful feedback and ideas from the other person and did not think that a complete stranger could have helped him with his vision.  That’s the power of sharing!  So if you don’t have a vision, why not give it a try?

Imagine yourself at a time in the future when your business is successful.  What do you see, what do you hear, what do you feel?  Then write down any key words that come into your mind, or draw a picture if you like visuals.  It doesn’t matter if its not complete, but capture the thoughts and over time you can refine it…..
