In 1995, Sue Stockdale saw an advert “Wanted – 10 novice arctic explorers to ski 350 miles to the Magnetic North Pole”.  Inspired by the idea of becoming a polar explorer, she applied to join the expedition.

After months of assessments Sue was chosen from over 500 applicants to join the team led by David Hempleman-Adams. During the 30 day expedition, Sue's abilities were tested to the limit and she became the First British Woman to ski to the Magnetic North Pole. Since then Sue has participated in expeditions to the Geographical North Pole, Antarctica, and skied across the Greenland Ice Cap.

Sue has also participated in Raleigh International expeditions to Kenya and was Deputy Expedition Leader in Chile.  In 2003 she was recognised as a Pioneer of the Nation by HM The Queen.
